THE RED BOX is an ongoing collaboration between artist-architect duo Olivia Lennon and Jan van Schaik. For Art Brussels 2024, they installed a set and performance reviving and interrogating the space of the 1910’s industrial warehouse of L'Escaut. 

Over a period of a year, artists Leonor Gomez et Arthur Jules, Darren Roshier, Lisa Hoffmann, Marco Schröder, and Gérard Béthume, have responded to this set with their works – while Lennon and van Schaik continued the project’s development from their base in Australia. 

For the 2025 Art Brussels OFF Programme, Lennon and van Schaik will return to L’Escaut for the Second Act of THE RED BOX. In this significant development of their project, they will address both their original concept and the works that have evolved in reponse to it, blending architecture with costume design.

THE RED BOX est une collaboration entre les artistes-architectes Olivia Lennon et Jan van Schaik. Pour Art Brussels 2024, ils ont conçu et installé un décor et une performance qui ravivant et interrogeant l’espace de l’entrepôt industriel de L'Escaut datant des années 1910.

Pendant un an, les artistes Leonor Gomez et Arthur Jules, Darren Roshier, Lisa Hoffmann, Marco Schröder et Gérard Béthume ont répondu à ce décor avec leurs œuvres, tandis que Lennon et van Schaik ont poursuivi le développement du projet depuis leur base en Australie.

Pour le Programme OFF d'Art Brussels 2025, Lennon et van Schaik reviendront à L'Escaut pour le Deuxième Acte de THE RED BOX. Dans cette nouvelle étape du projet, ils réinterrogeront à la fois leur concept initial et les œuvres qui y ont été liées, en mêlant architecture et design de costumes.
