Tashi Ceulemans
Tashi Ceulemans, a Tibetan-Belgian-American screenwriter and director, is currently writing her second short film titled Résidence. This project tells the story of an artist-in-residence who gradually loses her mental balance due to the continuous classical music played in the artistic center that is hosting her. A connection to her traumatic childhood slowly unfolds, though she is not aware of it. The film explores the impact of adult rules and expectations on childhood and how these influences persist into adulthood.
Graduated from La Cambre in photography, Tashi is also developing her feature film project, An American in Brussels. Her work questions human behavior, motivations, and the limits of self-perception. Fascinated by the invisible forces that drive us to act, she seeks to get closer to the truth of her characters through a unique photographic eye, influenced by directors such as Kurosawa, Scorsese, Kubrick, and Haneke.
Through her projects, Tashi tackles recurring themes: identity, existential questioning, and human tensions.
Tashi Ceulemans, scénariste et réalisatrice tibétaine-belge-américaine, écrit actuellement son deuxième court-métrage intitulé Résidence. Ce projet raconte l’histoire d’une artiste en résidence qui perd peu à peu son équilibre mental dû à la musique classique diffusée en continu dans le centre artistique qui l'accueille. Un lien avec son enfance traumatique se dévoile progressivement, bien qu’elle n’en soit pas consciente. Le film explore l'impact des règles et attentes des adultes sur l'enfance et comment ces influences persistent à l’âge adulte.
Diplômée de La Cambre en photographie, Tashi développe également son projet de long-métrage, An American in Brussels. Son travail questionne les comportements humains, les motivations et les limites de la perception de soi. Fascinée par les forces invisibles qui nous poussent à agir, elle cherche à se rapprocher de plus près de la vérité des personnages avec un regard photographique unique, influencé par des réalisateurs tels que Kurosawa, Scorsese, Kubrick et Haneke.
À travers ses projets, Tashi aborde des thèmes récurrents : l’identité, le questionnement existentiel et les tensions humaines.

Dit project vertelt het verhaal van een kunstenaar in residentie die geleidelijk haar mentale balans verliest door de voortdurende klassieke muziek die wordt afgespeeld in het kunstcentrum dat haar verwelkomt. Een verband met haar traumatische jeugd komt langzaam aan het licht, hoewel ze zich daar niet van bewust is. De film onderzoekt de impact van volwassen regels en verwachtingen op de jeugd en hoe deze invloeden voortduren in het volwassen leven.
Afgestudeerd aan La Cambre in fotografie, is Tashi ook bezig met haar speelfilmproject An American in Brussels. Haar werk bevraagt menselijk gedrag, motivatie en de grenzen van zelfperceptie. Gefascineerd door de onzichtbare krachten die ons tot actie aanzetten, probeert ze dichter bij de waarheid van haar personages te komen met een unieke fotografische blik, beïnvloed door regisseurs zoals Kurosawa, Scorsese, Kubrick en Haneke.
In haar projecten behandelt Tashi terugkerende thema’s: identiteit, existentiële vragen en menselijke spanningen.
